This course begins with a review of the efforts made at the federal level to prevent fraud. The course also notes statistics regarding corporate fraud. The course material then notes some of the common characteristics of individuals most likely to commit fraud, and some steps that you can take to identify them. Also, the most frequently occurring types of corporate fraud are identified, along with some processes and procedures which can be put into place to prevent these types of fraud from taking place. After this course, you will be able to: • Identify the general characteristics of the people who are most likely to commit fraud and how to better identify them as well as the most common types of fraudulent activities which are occurring in corporations today.• State why fraud is not always reported by executives and the chief reasons why even CPA’s do not always want to participate with law enforcement officers while investigating a fraud incident.• Select some of the tips and techniques that you may employ to prevent corporate crime in your and your clients’ workplaces.• Identify the most common schemes which those who commit corporate fraud usually utilize and explain why each method is chosen. • Describe the Fraud Deterrence Initiative and explain the story behind how it got started.
